Navigating WSP & ATR in 2023!
The deadline for submitting your annual Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) is fast approaching! These submissions are mandatory if your payroll exceeds R500 000pa and you also pay the skills development levy. WSP/ATR submissions are to be made annually to the relevant SETA before the deadline of 30 April each year.
Submitting has many benefits for measured entities. Firstly, it allows you to claim back a mandatory grant of 20% of the skills development levy. Secondly, it enables you to identify skills gaps between the skills required for a job and the skills that your employees actually possess. This will enable you to implement/facilitate training to minimize these gaps and to apply for discretionary grants to help address scarce skills shortages identified in a particular industry.
Keep in mind, skills development is a priority element on the B-BBEE scorecard. Failure to meet the 40% sub-minimum will result in the discounting principle being applied. This means that submitting your WSP/ATR is essential for scoring on the skills development element. If you encounter any challenges or do not have time to do the submissions, EconoBEE’s qualified experts can provide assistance to ensure that you remain compliant as a measured entity.
